Brushstrokes of Light

When life sets the mood and inspiration to write poetry.

Brushstrokes of Light

the sunrise and sunsets are competing
for my attention
shooting flames of fire at dawn
extinguishing in a burst of orange at dusk.
their colors spill into my day
 giving me
a gentle nudge – a suggestion
of what?
stop – take time
this is what’s real.
does the sky know
I’ve been  – what?
retrospective – questioning.
am I doing all I can
all I should?
is she waking me up – laying me down
there to remind me
stop – take time.
embrace my life
it’s the only one
it’s mine.
the sun rises and sun sets
pressing color into my day.
